Here are a few suggestions for staying informed about some of the topics topics covered in Global Issues class. Resources with an asterisk (*) were created for young people or English language learners.
Podcasts and videocasts Podcasts are audio recordings. Videocasts are similar but in video format. You can listen to, or watch, them on any smartphone or on the Web using the links below. Apple and Android phones have many podcast apps that make it easy to find and listen to podcasts. Most apps are free.
* As It Is. Podcast from Voice of America for English-language learners. Episodes are published most days and run to 6-7 minutes.
* CNN10. This videocast from CNN looks at today’s news in about ten minutes.
* KidNuz. An approximately 7 minute, fun overview of a variety of news stories.
* ABC News Time. Engaging and wel[-produced stories produced several times a week by ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp.), running to about 11 minutes per podcast.
*The Ten News. A variety of stories for young people, about 15 minutes per episode, comes out several times a week.
Up First. An approximately 15-minute overview of the day's leading stories, produced every morning by NPR (National Public Radio).
